I have 7 ferrets. I do not bathe my ferrets with soap once a week or once a month, that’s bad for their skin. Excessive bathing can dry out their skin, causing irritating itching, dandruff and sores from scratching (I’ve seen this and so has my veterinarian). Letting ferrets play in water won’t strip their skin of essential oils so let them play in water (supervised of course) whenever. I bathe mine with approved soap maybe twice a year or when they get dirty, sometimes they get stuff stuck to their feet or covered in dirt. Cleaning their cage, washing their bedding and toys and changing litter and scrubbing litter boxes on a regular basis is the BEST approach to cutting back ferret smells. Mine don’t smell at all, when people come over they never know they’re in the house until they see their massive cage lol DON’T BATHE YOUR FERRETS SO MUCH. Soap is what strips their oils, not water so water is ok. Mine like to stick their heads in water and blow bubbles. They make great loving fun pets if you take care of them properly

you should give your ferret a bath once a month like on the first day or last day of the month. they love to play with paper cups and plastic bags(dont worry i have a ferret who always plays in one) and they love to take a nap on your shoulder or your tummy!! they make soft squeaky noises when asleep.<3

you should be giving your ferret a bath everyday in the summer they will have there ferret smell if you dont and you dont want that always have the air conditioning on you should have a small animal cage and you will need a leash and harness because you have to take them for a short little walk in the evening witch they love or just let them run around but make sure your house is ferret proof if they get there head in they gget there whole body so be careful and if your looking to apopt shoot me an email there awsome pets and love to play! you will need paper bedding ferret food a cage a food dish a water dispencer and treats oh and a litter pan and litter and i hammock they love to sleep in them if you really want a ferret shoot me and email at katiiexhere2629@hotmail.com hope to hear from you!

I found this useful, because I was wondering myself how often you really should….because of their natural oils and such.
Once a week is deifinitly a bad idea though!!
I actually wash mine once every 4-5 months, cuz they do get more of a skunky smell as times goes on, lol.
After the bath, I spray them ( 3 little monsters! ) with a oil conditioner, and they smell great for almost 2 months! Even their bed smells like it, so I find it great!
