Have Ferret Will Travel

In case you haven’t noticed, we live in an increasingly mobile society. People tend to move around a lot more often. In addition, people travel more frequently. As our pets have become part of our lives, it’s only natural that we would want them to travel along with us. Traveling with cats and dogs is pretty standard nowadays; you see it all the time. But what about traveling with ferrets? What’s the best way to take your ferret along when you leave town?

If you are traveling by car, then taking your ferret is fairly simple. You’ll just need to take a few extra precautions. First of all, allowing your ferret to roam free inside the car is a recipe for disaster. There are way too many spaces for your ferret to crawl into, and most of them are bad news. Imagine what could happen if your ferret takes up residence under the brake pedal or behind a seat cushion. That’s why a travel cage is a must-have accessory. Fiberglass carriers designed for small cats are ideal enclosures for car travel. Just make sure you add a litter pan and some towels for padding. Make sure you have drinking water available, and never leave the ferret locked inside the car in warm weather.

The carrier will also come in handy at your destination. Whether you are staying in a hotel or with a friend, the carrier will function as your ferret’s home away from home. Remember, your friend’s home probably hasn’t been ferret-proofed, and hotel rooms are even worse. Take along an adequate supply of your ferret’s normal food. If your ferret has a collar and name tag, it should be worn throughout the entire trip.

When it comes to air travel, regulations vary from airline to airline, so you’ll have to check with your chosen carrier to find out what rules apply.
